Dawes of Evanston, Illinois and Joseph Schafer of Wisconsin; bound manuscripts of his volume Some Textual Difficulties in Shakespeare, and an unpublished volume, "More Solutions in Shakespeare"; Stewart's reminiscences of his relationship with Emanuel Philipp, governor of Wisconsin, 1915-1921; some data on the Dawes family, and correspondence from farmers of German descent complaining of intimidation tactics during Liberty Loan drives in World War I.

Charles Gates Dawes (August 27, 1865 – April 23, 1951) was an American banker, general, diplomat, composer, and Republican politician who was the 30th vice president of the United States from 1925 to 1929.
